It started with a bad night.
Restwild began with a bad night's sleep. We were two days into a trip, camped on a ridgeline with a view that was worth every step of the climb. Before midnight, the sleeping pad had gone flat.
The rest of that night was a hip against rock, cold coming up from the ground and a long wait for the sun. The morning was beautiful, and we were too tired to enjoy it.
Most people who camp have their own version of that night. A pad that leaks. A sleeping bag that turns out colder than its label. A headlamp that fades on the second evening. The gear gets you through the day, then lets you down when you finally stop moving.

Sleep is what the gear is for. The Ultralight Mattress Pro puts 4 inches of air between you and the ground, with an R-value of 4.0. The down sleeping bag is filled with 800-fill-power goose down. The pillow has a soft quilted cover and a valve to set its height.
Pack small enough to come along
Gear only helps if you bring it. The pad packs down to 11 x 5.5 inches and has its foot pump built in, so there is no pump to carry or forget. The headlamp weighs 2.8 oz without its battery.
Last for years
Our gear comes with a 5-year warranty, and the folding camping chair with a lifetime warranty. If something fails, you email us and we replace it.
Come with numbers you can check
We publish the numbers: weight, packed size, R-value, fill power and the runtime of each headlamp mode. We also try to say what a number does not tell you. An R-value is not a temperature rating. A headlamp's top brightness and its longest runtime belong to different modes. Our guides explain how to read them.
How the range fits together
Sleep is the center of it: a pad for the ground, a sleeping bag for the air around you and a pillow for your neck. They are made to work together. A strap holds the pillow on the pad, two pads join side by side, and two sleeping bags zip into one double. Each piece is sold on its own, so you only buy what you are missing.
Around that sits the gear that makes camp easier once the walking is done: a headlamp with a white beam for the trail and a red light for camp, and a chair that folds down small enough to carry.
