Frequently asked questions
Answers about orders, shipping, returns, the warranty and our gear. If yours is not here, write to support@restwildgear.com.
Orders and payment
How long until my order ships?
Orders ship within 24 to 48 hours. Once your order has been processed, a tracking number is generated and emailed to you automatically.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Email support@restwildgear.com within 2 hours of placing your order and we will do our best to help. Once an order has been processed and shipped, we can't cancel, redirect or intercept it.
If it has already shipped and you want your money back, you can return it once it arrives. See Returns and refunds.
I entered the wrong address. What now?
Email us as fast as possible with your order number and the correct address. Please double-check your address at checkout: we can't be held responsible for lost packages caused by an incomplete or incorrect address, and an order delivered to a wrong address because of a mistake at checkout is not eligible for a refund.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Klarna and Apple Pay. Checkout shows the methods available in your country.
Which currency will I pay in?
Prices are shown in the currency of the country you shop from: US dollars, British pounds, Canadian dollars or Australian dollars. You pay in the currency shown at checkout, and you can change country with the country selector on the site.
Do I need an account to order?
No. Guest checkout is available, so you can order without creating an account.
I did not get an order confirmation email. What should I do?
The confirmation goes to the email address you entered at checkout. Check your spam or promotions folder first. If it is not there, email us with the name and shipping address on the order and we will find it.
Shipping and tracking
How much does shipping cost?
Nothing. Standard shipping is free on every order. If a faster option is offered for your address, its price is shown at checkout before you pay.
Are there any extra fees on delivery?
No. The price you pay at checkout is the final price. There are no hidden fees and nothing extra to pay on delivery.
Which countries do you ship to?
The United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Those are the countries you can choose in the country selector and at checkout.
How long does delivery take?
Standard shipping: 5-7 business days.
Expedited shipping: 2-4 business days.
These are estimates only, counted from the day your order is dispatched. We can't guarantee exact delivery dates, but we always do our best to deliver on or before time. Customs, public holidays or carrier delays can occasionally affect timing.
How do I track my order?
As soon as your order is dispatched, we email you a tracking number. On our order tracking page you can look up the order with that tracking number, or with your order number and the email address you ordered with.
If the tracking has not moved for several days and you are worried, email us with your order number and we will look into it.
Is my order insured in transit?
Yes. Every order is insured in transit. If a package is lost on its way to you, we send you a new one.
My tracking says delivered, but I can't find the package. What now?
Start with a few practical checks:
- Look around your property and ask your neighbors.
- Check the tracking for a delivery photo or note, if there is one.
- Wait a day. Carriers sometimes mark a package as delivered a little early.
If it still has not turned up, email support@restwildgear.com with your order number and we will look into it.
My order arrived damaged, or something is missing. What should I do?
Email support@restwildgear.com with your order number, what is wrong and a few photos of the item and its packaging. We review it and make it right: if the product is confirmed defective, we arrange a replacement.
If a package is lost in transit and never arrives, we send a new one. Every order is insured.
Returns and refunds
How does the 90-day risk-free trial work?
You have 90 days from the day your order is delivered to decide. Take the gear on a trip and use it. If it is not right for you, email us within those 90 days and send it back for a refund.
How do I start a return?
Email support@restwildgear.com within 90 days of delivery with your order number. Once your request is approved, we tell you where to send the items. Please wait for that reply before you ship anything.
Can I return gear I have used, and what condition must it be in?
Yes. The trial is there so you can try the gear outdoors. The return has to reach us in original working condition and with its original packaging, so keep the packaging until you have decided.
Who pays for return shipping?
You do, also when you send something back to swap it for another item. Return shipping costs are non-refundable. The exception is a defective product: then we pay the return shipping.
We strongly recommend a trackable or insured shipping service for your return, because we can't guarantee that we will receive it.
Can I exchange for another color or product?
Yes, by returning the item for a refund and placing a new order for the one you want. Email us first to start the return. You pay the return shipping, unless the product is defective: then we pay.
Can I return one item from a bundle?
Yes. You can return a single item from a bundle, and you get the money back for the item you return.
When will I get my refund?
Within 5 to 10 business days after your return arrives, to your original payment method. The refund policy has the full terms.
When is a refund not issued?
A refund follows the terms in our refund policy. It is not issued when:
- the return is requested more than 90 days after delivery
- the item does not come back in original working condition with its original packaging
- the order was delivered to the address given at checkout, and that address was wrong
Warranty
What warranty does Restwild gear come with?
A 5-year warranty. The folding camping chair has a lifetime warranty.
What does the warranty cover, and what does it not cover?
If your gear fails within five years of purchase, we replace it free of charge. The camping chair has a lifetime warranty: if anything goes wrong with it, we repair or replace it.
The warranty does not cover misuse or loss.
Every claim is reviewed first. Once the product is confirmed defective, we arrange the replacement.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Email support@restwildgear.com with:
- your order number
- a short description of what happened
- a few photos, or a short video, that show the problem
Do I need to register my product for the warranty?
No. There is nothing to register. Your order number is what we ask for when you make a claim.
Sleep gear
How warm is the Ultralight Mattress Pro?
It has a stated R-value of 4.0 and is 4 in (10 cm) thick. R-value measures how well a pad slows heat loss into the ground. It is not a temperature rating: how warm you sleep also depends on your sleeping bag, your clothing and the conditions.
On frozen ground or snow, we recommend a closed-cell foam mat underneath. More in our guide How to choose a sleeping pad.
Is the Mattress Pro a good pad for side sleepers?
It is 4 in (10 cm) thick and 27.5 in (70 cm) wide, so there is depth for a hip and shoulder to sink in and room to bend your knees. Inflate it fully, lie on your side and let out a little air until it feels right.
Our guide Camping for side sleepers covers pillow height and other fixes.
How do I inflate and deflate the pad?
Step on the built-in foot pump. The pad fills in under 2 minutes, and you can also use an electric pump, a pump bag or your lungs. To pack up, open the valve and press the air out as you roll it: that takes under 2 minutes too.
Will the pad lose air overnight?
It is built to hold its air through the night. Air shrinks as it cools, so any inflatable pad can feel softer a few hours after you pumped it up in the warmer evening: top it up before you go to sleep.
If your pad goes flat, email us. A pad that fails is covered by the 5-year warranty.
Is a repair kit included with the Mattress Pro?
Yes. Adhesive repair patches are included with the pad.
How big is the Mattress Pro, and how much weight does it hold?
- Inflated: 77 x 27.5 x 4 in (195 x 70 x 10 cm)
- Packed: 11 x 5.5 in (28 x 14 cm)
- Weight: 1.75 lb (800 g)
- Weight capacity: 440 lb (200 kg)
Two or more pads join side by side with the built-in connectors.
How warm is the goose down sleeping bag?
The temperature chart on the product page gives three figures: comfort 50°F (10°C), limit 41°F (5°C) and extreme 32°F (0°C). Plan around the comfort figure. The extreme figure is not a temperature for a good night's sleep.
The bag is filled with 10.6 oz (300 g) of 800-fill-power goose down. For colder nights, add a warmer pad and dry layers. Our guide Sleeping bag temperature ratings explains what comfort, limit and extreme mean.
How big is the sleeping bag, and can two be joined?
It is rectangular, 78.7 x 31.5 in (200 x 80 cm), weighs 1.9 lb (863 g) and packs to 14.2 x 6.7 in (36 x 17 cm) in its stuff sack with compression straps.
The full-length two-way zipper opens the bag flat like a quilt, and two bags zip together into one double sleeping bag.
How does the camping pillow inflate, and does it stay on the pad?
A few breaths fill it. Let air out through the valve until the height suits you: it is 3.9 in (10 cm) tall when full. A strap holds it in place on a sleeping pad, and it works on its own too.
It weighs 0.4 lb (175 g) and packs to 5.5 x 3.5 in (14 x 9 cm).
I sleep cold. What should I get right first?
What is under you. You lose heat into the ground wherever you press against it, and a sleeping bag can't stop that on its own because your weight flattens its fill. So start with enough insulation in the pad, then a dry, lofted bag rated for the night, dry clothes and a hat.
Our guide How to sleep warm in a tent goes through the whole sleep system.
Headlamp
How long does the Backcountry Duo headlamp run on one charge?
It depends on the mode:
- White light: Ultra 6 to 8 hours, High 16 to 18 hours, Low 55 to 59 hours
- Red light: Ultra 10 to 13 hours, High 20 to 23 hours, Low 65 to 69 hours
The 1,000-lumen maximum is white Ultra, so it goes with the 6 to 8 hour figure. The longest runtimes are on Low.
How bright is it, and how many lumens do I need?
Up to 1,000 lumens on white Ultra, with a stated beam distance of 490 ft (150 m). Around camp you need far less than that, which is what High and Low are for.
See our guide How many lumens do you need in a headlamp?
What is the red light for?
A dim red light disturbs your night vision far less than white light, so you can cook, read a map or move around camp and still see in the dark afterwards. It is also easier on the people around you. The Backcountry Duo has a separate red LED with its own Low, High and Ultra levels.
More in our guide Red light vs white light.
Can I use the headlamp in rain and snow?
Yes. It is rated IPX6, which covers heavy rain and snow. IPX6 is not a rating for use under water, so do not submerge it.
Can I adjust the angle of the headlamp?
Yes. It tilts through 180 degrees, so you can aim the light where you need it. The housing is machined aluminum.
Camp furniture
How much weight does the folding camping chair hold?
Up to 330 lb (150 kg). The chair itself weighs 3.7 lb (1.7 kg).
Will the chair fit me?
It has been tested with users from 4 ft 9 in to 6 ft 5 in (145 to 195 cm):
- Under 4 ft 11 in (150 cm): it feels slightly higher, but is still comfortable.
- 5 ft 3 in to 6 ft 5 in (160 to 195 cm): ideal sitting height, with back and neck support.
- Over 6 ft 5 in (195 cm): above the tested range, so expect less shoulder and neck support.
Seat width 20.9 in (53 cm), seat height 23.2 in (59 cm), back height 28.7 in (73 cm).
Is the chair hard to set up?
No. It is one piece, with telescopic arms and a seat that stays attached, so there are no loose parts to connect or lose.
Does the chair come with a carry bag?
Yes. A carry bag is included.
Will the chair sink into sand, snow or mud?
It can. The feet can sink into soft surfaces, so pick firm ground where you can.
Care and repair
How do I clean my gear?
Wipe it down with a damp cloth and mild soap, then let it dry fully before you pack it away. That works for the sleeping pad and for the outer shell of the down sleeping bag.
Can I wash the camping pillow?
Yes. The pillow cover is machine washable.
How should I store my gear between trips?
Dry everything fully first. Then store it unrolled or loosely packed in a cool, dry place. That protects the materials over time, and a down sleeping bag keeps its loft better when it is not left compressed in its stuff sack.
My sleeping pad is losing air. What can I do?
A small hole in the fabric can be patched with the adhesive repair patches that come with the pad. A leaking seam or valve usually can't be fixed in the field. Our guide How to choose a sleeping pad has a section on repair.
If the pad still loses air, email us with your order number and a photo or short video of the leak. A pad that fails within five years is covered by the warranty.
